WELCOME TO THE JOURNEY

Bremont’s new Terra Nova collection references and is inspired by military pocket watches of the early 20th century.

A mechanical timepiece constructed from 904L satin and polished stainless steel, the Terra Nova is a tool watch built to withstand the rigours of everyday adventures. With an anti-reflective sapphire crystal to protect the dial and full block Super-LumiNova® numerals to provide exceptional visibility in low-light conditions. Designed with practicality and durability at its core, Terra Nova is a symbol of our commitment to exploration and the watch’s proving ground lies in the great outdoors.

‘Reaching Terra Nova’ celebrates the importance of connecting with the outdoors and embracing the beauty of the natural world, which can provide the perfect space to slow-down, engage the senses and find adventure.

Bremont invited a group of ambassadors and friends from backgrounds including adventure, military, cooking, fitness and mental health on an inspiring trip to the beautiful Exmoor in the UK, known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife.

The experience fostered connections, exploration and the sharing of stories and philosophies about the great outdoors and its importance for mental well-being.

MENTAL RESILIENCE TIPS FROM JASON FOX

TREAT EVERYTHING LIKE AN EXPEDITION

In my experience, success in any venture, be it personal or professional, new or old, all comes down to preparation. Educate yourself and gather as much knowledge as possible, as fear often stems from the unknown. Feel safe in the knowledge that you couldn’t have prepared anymore than you have.

DON’T FEAR NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

When approaching a big life moment, a new job or moving house for example, it’s only natural to focus on the worst-case scenarios, but instead of fearing negative thoughts, acknowledge them and use them to your advantage. Ground yourself in reality and reduce anxiety by turning them into opportunities for growth.

BE MORE TODDLER

Toddlers have an incredible way of living—fearless and unburdened by past experiences or future worries, they embrace the present moment. We can learn from their example by focusing on how to enjoy life without overanalysing what might happen or has happened.

LEAVE NO TRACE

WITH JOE HIGGINS

I’ve been exploring the most rural parts of the UK for as long as I can recall. I’ve found a real sense of humbleness and peace from spending time in nature, and more specifically camping.

Camping provides me an opportunity to deeply connect with nature. I get a sense of clarity, being outside is where I have time to organise my thoughts. However, I’m all too aware that as more people venture into the wilderness, there is the need to minimise our environmental impact. So as we encourage people to get outdoors, the necessity to highlight how to do this sustainably becomes crucial. The idea of ‘Leave No Trace’ plays a significant role in this. It’s so important we promote conservation and minimise environmental impact while camping. This will ensure we are maintaining the beauty of natural spaces and guarantee they remain pristine for future generations, so our children’s children can enjoy what we are so blessed to have on our doorstep.
But what does ‘Leave no trace’ mean in practice?

SUSTAINABLE CAMPING TIPS FROM JOE HIGGINS

TIP NO. 1: CLEAR UP YOUR WASTE

When exploring the wild, it’s imperative to pack up all waste, leaving the camp area cleaner than you found it Let others enjoy the same pristine environment and I’m not just referring to litter. When nature calls, digging a ‘cat hole’ is recommended to bury waste away from paths and water sources to minimise impact, along with using no (or non-toxic) soap when bathing in lakes and rivers.

TIP NO. 2: RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND ITS INHABITANTS

Respecting wildlife is integral to ‘Leave No Trace’ ethics. Never feed or approach wild animals and observing them from a distance is crucial to protecting their habitat and wellbeing. Do not disturb or alter the environment for your convenience. Never cut back vegetation or move logs and stones as you may disturb a habitat.

TIP NO. 3: MINIMISE FIRE IMPACT

Minimising campfire impacts is crucial. Always use established fire rings when available, keep fires small, and fully extinguish them before leaving to prevent the risk of wildfires. Many areas prohibit fires completely and it is our responsibility to follow local guidelines as a sign of respect for the environment and those that try to protect it.

CAMPFIRE CUISINE

WITH TOMOS PARRY

Tomos Parry is an acclaimed Welsh chef renowned for his innovative approach to open-fire cooking and his passion for using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Rising to prominence as the head chef at London’s celebrated Brat restaurant, Parry’s culinary prowess has earned him a Michelin star and widespread acclaim for his ability to blend rustic Basque techniques with contemporary British flavors. His commitment to simplicity, flavour, and sustainability along with his deft handling of seafood and meats, has firmly established him as a leading figure in the modern culinary scene.

OPEN FIRE COOKING TIPS FROM TOMOS PARRY

TIP NO. 1: ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU PREHEAT YOUR BARBECUE

A 15 minute pre-heat will allow you to give your cooking grills a quick scrub over with a grill brush to clean off any leftovers from your last cook. It will also give you the best cooking results as your food won’t stick, and you’ll get that extra sear and caramelisation, that is so tasty.

TIP NO. 2: OIL YOUR FOOD, NOT THE GRILLS

Applying a touch of olive oil to your steaks, along with some salt (no pepper – leave this until its cooked, otherwise it can burn!) keeps that extra flavour on your meal, while helping to create those wonderful sear marks… and your steaks won’t stick, making it easy to flip halfway through your cook.

TIP NO. 3: UNDERCOOKED IS BETTER THAN OVERCOOKED

Give some thought as to what items cook quicker than others. Definitely don’t just throw everything on the barbecue at once. It’s much easier to take a piece of meat off the barbecue early than too late. There’s no shame in popping something back on.

FIND YOUR WAY

A GUIDE TO YOUR BREMONT COMPASS BEZEL

Built to explore the land, the Terra Nova 40.5 Turning Bezel Power Reserve features a rotating compass bezel to help you navigate the wilds of the world. The compass bezel uses the sun’s position to provide a rough indication of directions - a handy tool when you’re out in nature. Before you begin, if daylight saving time is in effect, set your watch one hour back to ensure accurate navigation. Remember, the compass is designed for rough directional guidance and is not intended for precise navigation. Always ensure your watch is level when using the compass for the best results.
